Concerning the meaning behind the band name Nicolás Waldo has said the following:  The meaning of the word Energema is “The Divine power for to Creation”. “The word’s root is a Greek word.”  “Other meanings are: 1. Thing wrought 2. Effect operation”. He has also said that the band takes the idea for their name from 1 Corinthians 12:6: ” And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all.

Influences: Listening thru their discography I hear influences from Yngwie Malmsteen, Stratovarius, Symphony X, Rhapsody, Gamma Ray, Helloween, Impellitteri, Recon and many other power metal masters.

Lyrics: The lyrics consist of symbolism found in the books of “The Chronicles of Narnia” novels by C.S Lewis, Charles Dickens, Christianity and Biblical stories.

Discography: They have been quite productive. Up to this month they have released five full length albums, two EPs, and two Christmas albums.

The band also appeared on two compilations with covers :
Kings Will Be Kings” on Pumpkin Invaders – An Underground Tribute to Helloween (Burning Sun Records, cassette tape, 2018)
Somewhere Out in Space” on Cosmic Rayz – An Underground Tribute to Gamma Ray (Burning Sun Records, cassette tape, 2019) In mentioning this, you can further more understand what kind of sound I’m talking about.

The King Of The Giants

Currently signed by METALISM RECORDS (Russia), on 1st August, 2020 they released the album The King of the Giants.

The album is a concept album inspired on the King David story, so basically lyrics inspired from the Old Testament and also the mythology that has incurred around those scriptures.

Track List:

1. The Valley Of Elah (Overture)

2. The King Of The Giants

3. The Last Hero

4. War Of Nephilims

5. The Golden Throne

6. Wishes Of Glory

7. Time Of Faith

8. Tears Of An Angel

9. Goliath (Instrumental)

All words & music by Nicolas Waldo. Mixed at Meggido Records Studio. Mastered at Trinity Records.

The first track is sort of an intro followed by fast-paced songs with very fast guitar riffs, like “War of Nephilims“, “The Golden Throne and “Time of Faith“, six songs delivering a full-speed power metal experience. The album also includes an instrumental, “Goliath” and the ballad “Tears of an Angel“.

The song “Goliath” is a great song, but in my opinion a bit too speedy to be the last song of the album after the ballad. To be a full concept album it lacks an outro, “Tears Of An Angel” could have served as that. Other than that this is a nice power metal album and I´m happy this band caught my attention.

So who should definitely check this out? Anyone who has ever liked the singing styles of Michael Sweet (Stryper), Timo Kotipelto (Stratovarius) and Michael Kiske (Helloween). Also if you ever digged to Stryper, Helloween, Masterplan or Stratovarius, you should not be disappointed.
