Ever heard the saying or passage of scripture in the Holy Bible in Matthew 5:13 “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.“
You may remember a couple of years ago in 2018 when founding member of Petra, bassist John DeGroff had released his debut full-length solo album Salt which featured current and fellow Petra vocalist John Schlitt and a whole bunch of friends that contributed to the album released by metal label Rottweiler Records.
Rottweiler Records have just announced John’s newest release to date with a D45 release which is scheduled for a world premiere on the 24th of July, 2020. These two tracks will include again John Schlitt on the song “Three Nails” and also former Petra guitarist and founding member Gregory Hough who features on the song “Salt 2: Trophy Hunting For Unicorns“.
Progressive rock with elements of jazz-infused blues and rockabilly…my ears are excited for this follow-up to Salt created by John DeGroff. I’m also seriously focused on this latest creation. For we previously gave a 10 out of 10 for his debut in 2018, and we are mesmerized by his songwriting and uniqueness that had already been established through his timeless and long career.
