Some of you may not know of John DeGroff, but I would deeply assume that many of you would. Founding bassist and member of rock band Petra back in 1972, until he left the band in 1979. Not stopping there, John has been active within the music industry for over 40 years through Fort Wayne and Nashville as he played in numerous bands, joined other founding Petra members Greg Hough (guitars) and Bill Glover (drums) to form the project GHF, and he also has done session work over that time.
Since making special appearances for Petra, John has since signed with Fort Wayne-based metal label Rottweiler Records in early 2018, and has already released a solo progressive rock and jazz-infused album featuring John Schlitt, vocalist of Petra, and others for the project called Salt.
Even though it was revealed to me a while ago John DeGroff is hard at work creating his next untitled release through the label, no dates have been set yet for his newest offering. But it’s been revealed that many more well known contributors have made their mark on his next masterpiece, and with judging by our review on his debut last year on Rottweiler Records, I would say another 10 out of 10 is on the horizon.
