Islander Set For Independancy

Since humbly forming in Greenville, South Carolina back in 2006, breaking up and then reforming in 2011, the alternative and nĂ¼-metal group Islander have never been without a label since signing with Victory Records in 2013. Yes, a lot of years being mentioned within the first paragraph, however the band have never showed signs of slowing down by any means.

With two EPs and three studio albums to their name, mainly frontman Mikey Carvajal himself, who is joined by Erik Shea on guitars and his sibling Chris Carvajal on bass, are the members that have stayed true and vigilant throughout the lifetime of the outfit. Briefly signing with Better Noise Music, with the latest full length It’s Not Easy Being Human (2022), the now-trio have decided to part ways with that label and become independent once more for the first time since their reformation.

The band recently asked fans that if they were to release new music through crowdfunding, would people be willing to contribute? It’s not the first – or the last – time that a well-known band or artist has, or would, reach out to crowdfunding platforms to financially support a future release. Especially when it gives the artist an opportunity to completely own the rights of their own music and to offer more towards their fans, as Islander have already stated on their official Facebook page.

Their most recent single, “Skin Crawl”, which released last year in 2022, features Bruce Fitzhugh of Living SacrificeDaniel Weydant of Zao, and Brian “Head” Welch of Korn.
