In case you missed it, the OG Christian Metal/Deathcore group Impending Doom release a slamming EP a year ago, and it still rips to the day! The band has been steadily uploading new music for the past few years, and the most recent EP Towards The Light doesn’t disappoint. Christ Is King/Punishment is a solid twofer track from the EP that satiates the craving for heavy worship in classic Impending Doom fashion. The first track opens up with the refrain “Christ is King” with exhaled brutality from vocalist Brook Reeves and continues to pummel the listener in the most glorious way.

There’s a slight pause and the second track trounces the listener again like a well executed piledriver. Chugging crunchy guitars, pulsing bass and thunderous drums round out this tune, and it is every bit the quintessential Impending Doom sound. The group plans to release more music in 2026.
